You will have to read and see if this couple finds their happily ever after, but please be aware this book is addicting. While employed under Gavin's hateful aunt, Senara uncovers some interesting and unearthly things. Both are intrigued by each other, but of course it cannot be acted upon at once, since Senara is the hired help and Gavin is the Laird. At this point in time, Gavin drops the bomb on her that he is the Laird. Gavin and Senara enjoy a talk and walk, until she ends up at the castle. She is pretty feisty and handy with a sword, but enter the hero Gavin. In this story, the heroine Senara is seen fighting off some hooligans on the street with her two most precious things, a horse and her sword. She has solid characters and a well planned out story.

On the road there she meets Gavin, laird of Castle of Park, when he intervenes as she is being attacked. Senara has come to Castle of Park to work as a lady’s maid to help with her family’s finances.
It had romance, intrigue and even a vengeful ghost. The ending, while not unexpected did manage not to be very predictable. The ghost really does capture your imagination, and leaves you rooting for the young couple in love. The writing is crisp and the suspense well managed. What I really liked about the novel is that it took the author just five well defined characters to put across a wealth of knowledge about the time period and move the story forward. There are secrets in the castle that are unknown to Gavin and Senara, but will the secrets help them? You're going to have to read the book to find out. Things come to a head when a ghost is freed from behind a wall by Senara. Then he meets Senara and she's a distraction he can not afford, yet is helpless to deny. Gavin has been hoping to do the right thing and make a marriage of convenience and hopefully some profit. The bitter old maid is after her nephew Gavin to get married and beget a heir so that the king doesn't get his hands on their lands. Unfortunately her new employer is quite a difficult person to get along with. When Senara leaves her home and family behind to come work for Lady Edana, she's only thinking about not being a burden to her family. It's a Cinderella story, with a ghostly twist.
